Yahoo News PlayStation 5 won't support PS1, PS2, PS3 games or downloads
Sony has given an update on PlayStation 5's backward-compatibility support – and it isn't great news for those who like playing the older games.
While the long-awaited console will be compatible with "99 per cent" of PS4 games via backwards compatibility, it means it won't be supporting PS1, PS2, PS3 games or downloads.
"We have been building devices with a focus on PS5-specific engineering," PlayStation boss Jim Ryan told Famitsu (via Ars Technica).

"Among them, PS4 already has 100 million players, so I thought that I would like to play PS4 titles on PS5 as well, so I introduced PS4 compatibility."
Ryan said the aim for the new console was to focus on new technologies, so compatibility for earlier consoles just didn't work with that.
"While achieving that, we focused on incorporating high-speed SSDs and the new controller DualSense in parallel," he said. "So, unfortunately, compatibility with [PS3, PS2, PS1] has not been achieved."

Sony has not revealed any other information about which PS4 games will be supported and if they will be immediately compatible when the console launches in November.
There are two different versions of the PS5, so depending on your preference (or how generous Santa is feeling this year), you could get the main version which is priced at £449, and there's also an all-digital version with no disc-tray for £359.
