Plumber demonstrates why you should never, ever flush ‘flushable’ wipes

Using baby wipes or other intimate hygiene products can definitely make you feel fresher “down there” after going to the bathroom. But one plumber on TikTok has shared a valuable reminder of why these products belong in the garbage — not the toilet. (Yes, even if they’re marked “flushable.”)

The video was shared by @georgetheplumber, a TikTok account with a following of nearly 105,000. In it, the plumber stands outside a residence and removes the top of a drain fitting while investigating the root cause of a clog.

Almost immediately, sewage water comes rushing out of the pipe, followed by the obvious source of the clog: a collection of flushable wipes that were clearly not so flushable after all.

The 37-second clip doesn’t feature any commentary or video text. Instead, the seemingly never-ending flow of wipes speaks for itself.

So far, the video has more than 2.9 million views and is serving as an all-important reminder to the public.

“Sewage, septic, renting or owning. You should always care. You should never put anything down the toilet. It’s not hard to throw them away,” one person wrote.

“I use wipes, but I don’t flush them under any circumstances,” another shared. “I’ll put them in a bin or something.”

One person admitted that while they continue to use flushable wipes regularly, they only do it at work. Another said they learned this lesson the hard way at home — and wound up with an $800 plumbing bill.

But other TikTokers questioned why companies are allowed to market these wipes as “flushable” in the first place.

“this is the thing I don’t understand…. how have flushable wipes companies not been sued like crazy?” one person asked.

“Im starting to think the person who invented flushable wipes is also the inventor of plumbing………,” added someone else.

More than a few people chimed in to suggest an eco-friendly alternative to flushable wipes. One that will save them from having to pay astronomical plumbing fees and leave them feeling fresh as a daisy.

“Buy a bidet!” urged one person.

“Best investment ever,” added another, who said they put one on every toilet in their house.
