A teenager is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed during a fight in south east London.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in Plumstead in Greenwich just before 6pm on Thursday.

They arrived to find the 18-year-old suffering stab wounds and he was rushed to a south London hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

Officers now believe he was involved in a fight with a group of three or four youths in Herbert Road when he was stabbed.

All the youths at the scene then fled the area into the nearby Barnfield Estate, police say.

DC Andrew Payne, the officer in the case, said: "This attack happened in broad daylight, in a busy street and I am appealing for anyone who saw anything, or who knows anything, about the attack to contact me."

Any witnesses or anyone with any information can call DC Payne on 020 8284 7755, or police via 101 or by tweeting @MetCC.
