Plymouth Albion 'buzzing' after spectacular away win
Plymouth Albion picked up their first away win of the season with a 39-20 victory at Bishop’s Stortford, making it two on the bounce in National League One after losing their opening pair of fixtures.
The result moved Albion move up to sixth place in the table, which delighted coach and club legend Jamie Salter.
“The boys are buzzing,” said Salter, “as they should be after a result like that. It’s never an easy place to come.

“They like to throw the ball around but the really pleasing thing for us was we stuck with our gameplan, and the boys didn’t stop working for the full 80 minutes.
“It’s massive. We spoke about it in the week, we need to build on each week, we can’t have one good game and then drop our standards again. First overnight trip, it’s always difficult coming away from home, but this result sets us up really well for Moseley at home next week.
“I think everyone played really well, I thought Herbie (Stupple) was excellent. He’s one of those boys who speaks with his actions, and he did that very well today.”
Albion were on the scoresheet early after Archie Hill broke through a couple of tackles before Jenson Boughton was able to spin the ball out to Angus Hodges, whose pass inside was deliberately knocked on deep inside the Stortford 22, leaving the ref no choice but to award a penalty try to the visitors.
Stortford would then find themselves on the scoresheet through a penalty, before Albion scored a second try after some good work in midfield before Jack Oulton spotted a gap and darted into it, giving Plymouth a 14-3 lead.
There would be one more try before half-time, after two penalties for Albion and one for Stortford were all converted, and it was Albion who had the final action of the first half. Ben Moa left Dan Powell in the dirt after a powerful handoff and picked out Joel Broadhurst who whipped it inside to Shea Cornish who finished off a dominant first half for Albion, with the away side leading 27-6 at the break.
Stortford had the brighter start to the second half, with Frazier Kiff and Jack Biard both going over in quick succession, leaving Albion concerned about blowing a big lead for the second week in a row.
With just seven points in it now, the next try would be crucial, and luckily for the visitors, they were able to find it with Jake Clemson breaking through tackles right on the try line to edge over and give Albion some breathing room once more.
Albion’s attacking power ultimately proved too much again for Stortford in the final stages, as Harry Legg dived over soon after to finish off a dominant 39-20 win over the London outfit, in a performance that sets them up brilliantly for their match next week at home to second-placed Birmingham Moseley.
