Plymouth-born Trevor Francis’ football memorabilia is coming to auction
Trevor Francis will be remembered in the football hall of fame as the first £1 million pound transfer player. Born in Plymouth he went on to play for Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Sampdoria, QPR and managed Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City amongst others, not to mention 52 England caps.
On Thursday, October 17, Piers Motley Auctions is offering over 100 lots from Trevor Francis’ deceased estate at auction.
The highlight of the sale is his UEFA European Cup Winner’s Medal 1978-79 which shall make £12,000-20,000 (all prices plus 30% B.P.). There is also the 79-80 medal which expects £5000-8500 and two silver runners up medals looking for £1500-2000.

The collection also includes match worn shirts which were swapped with opponents including Diego Maradona Napoli shirt 1984-85, estimated at £2000-2500.
An 18ct gold and enamel Coppa Italia 1984-85 medal is seeking £3000-3500. There are also England caps and shirts including an England International Spain 1982 World Cup shirt, expecting £800-1400.
With the sale of Viv Andersons’ football collection having just been completed, the ‘sleepers’ in the sale could be the silver and plated presentation mugs and trophies which include Football League Cup 79-80, Birmingham City Promotion to Division 1 71-72.
