Yet again driving offences make up the bulk of the cases at Plymouth Magistrates' Court which have seen judgement passed down upon those who were caught.

The offences range from having an unlicensed vehicle, failing to have the right - or any - insurance, driving without a driving licence, using cannabis, alcohol or cocaine before getting behind the wheel or driving over the speed limit.

The range of punishments go from fines and penalty points to having a driving licence taken away for weeks, months or even years.

This week has also seen rail passengers hit with the kind of fines for failing to purchase their fare which may make the price of the ticket seem miniscule by comparison - one person avoided paying a £21.40 ticket, but ended up more than £1,000 out of pocket as a result.

A prolific shoplifter banned from the Co-op was highlighted in a separate report last week - but we can now reveal the level of thievery she carried out, all at the same store.
