Plymouth idiot caught up in crime days after jail release
A man who was released from a 22 month jail sentence after serving just seven months returned to the scene of one of his crimes within days of being released.
Simon Davis, aged 28 of no fixed abode, appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' Court today [November 28] charged with two counts of burglary other than dwelling, one of going equipped for burglary and one of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal.
Magistrates were told that on November 25, he was found in possession of a cutlery knife which was deemed to have been in his possession for the use in the course of, or in connection to, a burglary.

The same day Davis entered the Shiny Car Wash in Stuart Road and stole a bluetooth speaker, a mobile phone, approximately £35 in cash and a quantity of jewellery.
The court heard that on the following day, on November 26, Davis entered the Breakwater Breakers business in Breakwater Hill with intent to steal. The same day he returned to the Shiny Car Wash in Stuart Road and stole a jacket and cigarettes.
The court was made aware of previous convictions which included a matter of dangerous driving earlier this year and of burgling the same Breakwater Breakers yard, stealing a party speaker from B&M store on Transit way and driving a stolen Ford Fiesta taken from the breakers' yard through a 'no entry sign and travelling the wrong way through the short one-way stretch.
On that occasion, as reported by PlymouthLive he was followed by an advanced police driver who activated his lights, but Davis refused to stop, increasing his speed and swerving violently. The Fiesta was then seen going through a no entry sign, a red light and travelling at speed through the city centre. CCTV footage showed the car travelling along North Road West and entering the cul-de-sac Hetling Close. The Fiesta - by now smoking and damaged - was then found by the advanced police driver abandoned in a parking bay.
On that occasion, Davis - disqualified from driving for a year on May 3, 2023 with an extension of four months - was disqualified for a further three years and 10 months. He was also handed a 22 month jail sentence on April 12, 2024.
PlymouthLive understands that Davis was released from prison on November 21, seven months into his sentence.
With regard to the latest offences, Davis pleaded guilty to all four charges and he was handed a total prison sentence of 32 weeks.
He was also ordered to pay £210.25 compensation to the Shiny Car Wash business. Due to his previous conviction his recall to prison was also instigated, resulting in him having release date in December 2025.
