The area’s impressive Grade I listed buildings, coupled with modern marina facilities and panoramic waterfront views, make for a unique backdrop.
The Royal William Yard wasn’t the only Devon location to make the top ten as Brixham Harbour and Ilfracombe Harbour came in fifth and sixth places respectively.
Brixham’s picturesque harbour perfectly captures the essence of a working fishing village, lined with colourful fishing boats and trawlers that reflect the area’s maritime heritage. Ilfracombe Harbour is known for its rugged cliffs and hidden coves, creating a picturesque and varied landscape for photographers. Ilfracombe is also home to the iconic Verity sculpture by Damien Hirst, making it a must-visit spot for any modern art enthusiast.
The study generated a list of 57 marinas based on popular tourist destinations in the UK and the top five hashtags for each marina destination were found on Instagram and the number of posts featuring each hashtag was returned. The frequency for the five hashtags for each marina were combined to give an overall hashtag count for each location. The locations were then ranked based on overall hashtag count with the most frequently tagged marina at the top.
