Plymouth Parkway have been handed a home tie with National South side Worthing in the fourth and final qualifying round of the FA Cup knowing a win would take them into the first round proper.

Saturday’s 3-0 win at Sittingbourne saw the Southern League Premier Division outfit make history by making the final qualifying round stage for the first time in their history and now, they have the home tie they wanted.

The match against Worthing, 11th in National South, will take place on Saturday, October 12 and with that being an international weekend, Plymouth Argyle are without a fixture, so a bumper crowd will no doubt be in attendance to see if Chris McPhee’s side can continue to make history.

“It’s nice to get a home draw,” Parkway chairman Mark Russell said. “It is good for the club to make history in getting to where we are and we now have a game where we will be the underdogs, but it does give us that little chance of progressing further.

“It is a huge carrot for us to get to the first round and obviously getting to where we have got to is new for the club and it is really exciting to have the opportunity to get to the first round proper.

“I was checking the fixtures as soon as the draw was made and I did notice that Argyle weren’t playing that day! It is always good to get the opportunity to bring a few more people in. I think we have been unfortunate with FA Cup games so far not being at home, or clashing with Argyle, and we have the Trophy game on Saturday when again, we clash with Argyle!

“It will be good to have a game where hopefully, a large number of Argyle fans will come down and give us some support as well.”

Meanwhile, Parkway have confirmed they have parted company with defender Callum Rose by mutual consent.

The 25-year-old was a key player as the club won promotion from the Southern League Division One South after joining in the summer of 2021, forming a formidable defensive partnership alongside Mike Landricombe.

However, he has fallen out of favour under new boss Chris McPhee and in agreement with the club, the former Plymouth Argyle, Dorchester Town and Buckland Athletic stopper has decided to move to pastures new.

A statement released by the club read: “Despite facing niggling injuries over the past two Southern Premier League seasons, Callum consistently demonstrated his commitment to the club, earning the position of vice-captain during his tenure.

“On behalf of everyone at Plymouth Parkway, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Callum Rose for his service to the club. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and hope that he looks back fondly on his time at Bolitho Park.

“We wish Callum continued success in the next chapter of his footballing journey.”
