Plymouth Union Street to be closed today for major event

A main road through Plymouth will be closed today, Sunday, September 15 for a planned event. The annual Union Street party returns with a large portion of Union Street to be closed to allow the festivities to take place.

The annual Union Street Party, organised by Nudge Community Builders, is returning today for a day of fun, activities and performances. Open from 12pm-4pm, there is plenty going on for all to enjoy.

There will be local bands, activities for the family, delicious food and excellent performances, as well as local sellers, from vintage clothing to baked goods.

With a number of stages welcoming singers, DJs, and even parkour performances the day is sure to be filled with excitement.

Union Street will be closed between 7am and 7pm to allow the event to take place. The road between the Octagon Roundabout and Stonehouse Bridge will be closed for the party,

Plymouth Citybus has warned passengers that Union Street will be closed for most of the day. While a large stretch of Union Street will be closed, bus services will operate from Stonehouse Bridge and The Octagon.

It said: "#PCB21 #PCB21A Event: Union Street-Street Party 0700-1900 Union Street closed to traffic. Buses will operate from The Octagon, Martin Street, Millbay to Stonehouse Bridge to Devonport and the same in reverse from Devonport."

As well as the Union Street Party, Plymouth is also hosting SeaFest this weekend. Held on the Barbican and Sutton Harbour and organised by Plymouth Waterfront Partnership with Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Sound National Marine Park, SeaFest is a huge celebration of all things maritime.
