Yahoo News PM Lee makes police report over fake e-mail on COVID-19 that uses his name
SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has made a police report regarding a fake e-mail allegedly sent in his name that asks readers to provide feedback on Singapore’s COVID-19 situation.
“If you receive such an e-mail, do not respond to it. Also do not provide any personal information. And please do not forward it to your friends and family,” said Lee in a Facebook post on Monday (30 March).
He warned that that e-mail, which also provides a COVID-19 update, has been circulating online.
Lee said has since reported the matter to the Singapore Police Force. He also shared in his post an image of the e-mail in question.
“These are unscrupulous characters trying to exploit the current crisis to dupe you. Be extra careful, and stay safe online,” he said.
