Pochettino: Red Card Not Pivotal

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino disagreed with Hull boss Steve Bruce's opinion that the red card shown to Gaston Ramirez had determined Spurs' 2-1 victory at Hull City

After a poor opening, Pochettino's side could have been two or three down before half-time instead of just 1-0 behind following an eight-minute piledriver from former Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore.

The Argentinian denied Gaston Ramirez's 50th-minute sending-off had turned the game in Spurs' favour despite Harry Kane scoring the equaliser 11 minutes later and Christian Eriksen netting a last-minute winner.

Pochettino said: "I think it did not have a big impact. In the second half our attacking game was better than Hull's. I'm sure in the end it would have been the same result.

"Hull played very well in the first half but we tried to change something at half-time and I'm happy because after we showed character and good mentality.

"In the second half we created a lot of chances. The team showed a better mentality and attitude.

"I think the most important thing today is three points. It gives us confidence and I'm sure in the next few weeks we need to improve but the most important thing today is the three points."
