'Pointless' new aspect of The Voice slammed by viewers
The Voice made its much-anticipated return to ITV on Saturday, featuring legendary coaches Sir Tom Jones and Will.I.Am, along with LeAnn Rimes and McFly's very own Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher gracing the famous red chairs in a quest to discover the UK's next singing sensation.
However, moments into the show, viewers were quick to criticize a pointless change as they flooded social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, voicing their opinions. Viewers seemed perplexed as to why Danny and Tom shared a single chair, with one individual posting: "Two judges in one seat Why?? #TheVoice."
Another viewer lamented over the dual coach seating arrangement: "I'm so against having a 2 person chair. Feels so pointless #TheVoice #TheVoiceUK," reports the Express.
One fan even humorously speculated about a potential health mishap: "What if McFly get food poisoning and both end up in the bog with the ****? Did they think of that? #TheVoice."
A further X user complained: " 2 Tom's... not confusing at all #TheVoice #TheVoiceUK." Amidst the dissent, some were delighted with the current line-up: "This line up of #TheVoice. Tom and Danny are 2 of my biggest inspirations and I simply love LeAnn, she's just lovely."
For the first time in its 13-year run, The Voice has introduced a duo coach format, a debut move for the series. While Danny served as a coach for The Voice Kids UK from 2017 to 2020, this season he is accompanied by a bandmate.
Sir Tom Jones and Will. I.Am have been the mainstay figures on the panel since the inception of the show back in 2004. LeAnn is representing the ladies in her debut season on the UK edition, having previously served as a coach on the Australian version.
In the opening episode, the singing sensation performed Elton John's iconic hit 'Your Song' alongside contestant Joy, to the delight of the cheering audience.
