New Pokémon Snap is due out on 30 April and Nintendo has released two new trailers to celebrate.
The original N64 game is a cult classic – this return to the series over 20 years later has fans super excited.
The new trailers show off more of the new Lental region. There’s the desert that’s filled with roaming Onix and a roaring Tyranitar, plus the lush greenery of the nature park
There’s also more of the reef and forest areas, all filled with Pokémon just casually going about their business. It’s all looking incredibly adorable.
But is there more to New Pokémon Snap than just photographing Pokémon?
Snapping away at Pokémon with your camera is certainly at the core of the game. You’ll explore various areas of the Lental region, capturing photos of Pokémon in different situations from across the series of games.
Gradually you’ll fill out your Photodex with your favourite images, but unlike the previous game you’ll now be able to edit them with stickers and filters and then share them with friends online. Expect to see Pokémon photos all over social media once the game’s released.
The Lental region consists of various islands, each with their own flora and fauna. And while some monsters are wandering in the open, others will need to be coaxed out with special items or appear only at certain times of the day.
Explore to increase your research level where Pokémon will behave in new, unexpected ways. Gradually you’ll uncover the mysteries of the Illumina phenomenon, a special bioluminescence (yes, Pokémon is going Avatar).
This all means the game is shaping up to be a far more in-depth experience than its N64 counterpart was and a must-own for Pokémon fans.
New Pokémon Snap is available to pre-order now and is released on 30 April, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
