Poland withdraws Euro 2020 bid

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — The president of the Polish Football Association says it is withdrawing its bid to host the 2020 European Championship.

Zbigniew Boniek said on Wednesday he believes Poland stood "slim chances" of being chosen because it recently hosted Euro 2012.

UEFA wants to mark the 60th anniversary of the European Championship by holding games in 13 countries.

More than 30 countries, including Poland, made initial bids, but recently Finland, the Czech Republic and Portugal withdrew.
