Police are appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of a mother after baby was left in a park in east London.

The discovery of the infant, who was been named Harry by hospital staff, was widely reported a month ago but police are yet to identify the baby’s parents.

At around 8am on Sunday, 17 September officers and London Ambulance Service were called after a baby was found abandoned in a park area close to Balaam Street, Plaistow.

Harry was found carefully wrapped in a white blanket and was taken to an east London hospital.

He is now being cared for by the local authority.

Detective Inspector Justine Taylor who leads the investigation said: “It has now been a month since Harry was found.

“In that time we have been in constant contact with hospitals throughout London to see if Harry’s mother has sought medical attention but we have yet to identify her.

“I would reiterate our appeal to Harry’s mum — please come forward and let us know you are safe and if you need care and support, we can help you access this.
