Missing Washington man found safe and well following police appeal

A missing man who hasn't been seen since yesterday morning has been found safe and well, police confirm.

Stephen, 56, was last seen at about 11.30am on Sunday in the Beaumount Drive area of Washington.

Officers were becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare and launched a public appeal calling on anyone who may know where he is to contact them.

Stephen is described as a white male, 5ft 8ins tall, and wears glasses and hearing aids. He was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, blue jeans, and blue trainers.

Northumbria Police urged anyone with information to get in touch by sending a direct message on social media or using the live chat function on the Force's website.

Those unable to contact the Force via the methods outlined above were asked to call 101.

On Monday afternoon officers confirmed that Stephen had been found safe and well. They thanked the public for their support in the search.
