Police appeal for witnesses after driver 'seriously injured' in County Durham crash
Durham Constabulary is appealing for witnesses after a crash in the county left a driver seriously injured in hospital.
The collision took place at around 11.35am on the eastbound carriageway of the B1281 near Hesleden. A female driver was the only occupant of the vehicle - and she was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
The driver remains in hospital. A police investigation has been launched and police officers would like to speak to any witnesses.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have any dashcam footage from the scene, or of the vehicle prior to the incident.
The ambulance service sent multiple crews and the Great North Air Ambulance Service was also in attendance.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 11.43am to a one vehicle road traffic incident on the B1281, Castle Eden. We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, a specialist paramedic, a duty officer, a clinical team leader and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance Service.
"One patient was transported to James Cook Hospital by road with a doctor on board."
