Police arrest two men following alleged break-in at property in Wishaw

Police arrested two men following an alleged break-in at a property in Wishaw.

Officers swooped on Stewarton Terrace on Sunday after receiving reports from members of the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of an attempted break-in to a property on Stewarton Terrace, Wishaw, around 5.55pm on Sunday, May 26.

“Officers attended and a subsequent disturbance occurred.

“One man aged 44 has been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

"A 37-year-old man was also arrested and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Earlier this week, officers also confirmed they had taken action over recent concerns over shoplifting in Wishaw town centre.

A spokesperson added: “In response to recent concern over shoplifting in the Wishaw area Community Policing teams have placed additional focus on this activity over the last month.

“As a result 22 people have been charged and one prolific offender was remanded for four months.”
