Police Attacked With Petrol Bombs, Fireworks During Tamworth Protests

A clash between protesters and police in Tamworth, England turned violent on Sunday, August 4, as disruptive anti-immigration demonstrations continued across the United Kingdom.

This footage, filmed by Ryan Tipton, shows a confrontation between local police, protesters and counter-protesters outside the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth.

According to police, officers were “attacked with petrol bombs and fireworks”, and “damage was caused to the hotel by protesters, with the lives of residents inside put at risk”.

“Windows at the hotel were smashed and three petrol bombs were used to start series of fires… Projectiles were thrown and officers were targeted with violence, leading to officers being assaulted. One officer suffered a suspected broken arm.”

Police appealed for information to help identify those involved.
