Police make burglary arrest after finding man hiding in cupboard inside house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after being discovered hiding in a cupboard within a Crewe residence. A local resident in the Gainsborough Road vicinity alerted the police on Friday evening (January 24), having spotted torch lights inside a house.

Upon arrival, the police forced entry into the property after detecting movements within. They subsequently discovered a 31 year old man secreted in a cupboard.

A representative for Cheshire Police stated: "A male was arrested last night on suspicion of burglary dwelling after being detained inside a property in Crewe."

"At roughly 1930 hours last night we received a call from a member of the public reporting a burglary, saying they saw flashlights inside a property in the area of Gainsborough road. Response patrols attended the location and forced entry into the property after hearing movements inside."

"A 31-year-old male from Crewe was located hiding in an internal cupboard, and was arrested on suspicion of Burglary dwelling. He remains in Police custody at this time."
