Police have busted a huge cannabis factory packed with more than 2,000 plants. The sting came in Chell where officers say they had been following up on 'community intelligence'.

The property which played host to the grow has since been 'made safe and secure'. Now neighbourhood officers have urged anyone with information over such grows to get in touch.

PCSO Sarah Bowen, of Stoke-on-Trent North Local Policing Team, said: "After following up community intelligence officers have discovered a large cannabis grow in the Chell area.

"Over 2,000 plants have been seized and destroyed. There are huge risks linked to grows including modern slavery, crime and the risk of fire to surrounding properties.

"Fortunately no one was hurt on this action and the property has been made safe and secure. We continue to proactively target those involved in drug cultivation across the city as part of Operation Levidrome."

We have asked Staffordshire Police for details on the location of the cannabis factory.

Anyone with concerns over drug misuse in their community should call 101.
