It is not as if Manchester police don’t have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

But, almost unbelievably, officers were called out to a bizarre dispute involving neighbours which saw a dead goldfish covered in cheese being posted through a letterbox.

The strange incident was revealed by officers in Middleton, in Greater Manchester, after officers were called out on Thursday.

GMP Middleton took to social media to reveal the incident.

They tweeted: “Today we’ve dealt with a neighbour dispute where a dead goldfish covered in cheese has been posted through a letterbox. I kid you not.”

The message has been retweeted more than 11,000 times.

However, they did not reveal what kind of cheese the poor fish was covered in.

Several people responded on Twitter to sympathise with officers, after a very trying week in Manchester.

Some though also wanted reassurance that valuable police resources were not wasted on the incident.

GMP Middleton again took to Twitter to say they weren’t: “I can assure you once officers found about this not a lot of time was spent on it.”
