Police called to 'industrial accident' in Leicester

Inquiries are ongoing into a reported “industrial accident” in Leicester. Full details surrounding the incident have yet to be established, but a police cordon was spotted at the scene.

Officers from Leicestershire Police said they were called to Westbridge Close near Castle Park on Monday (January 20) following reports of the “industrial accident”. Police said they were called to the scene just after 4.30pm.

A police spokesperson could not say which premises it had been called to when asked by LeicestershireLive. Images from the scene show a police cordon in place near the long-closed Colourworks restaurant.

Police said the force is now liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in relation to the incident. When asked by LeicestershireLive, the HSE was unable to provide any further information about the “industrial accident”.

A HSE spokesman said: “We are making enquiries into this incident and continue to liaise with Leicestershire Police.”
