Police chase Astra from Ladgate Lane to Normanby Road where pair flee car

A police chase was sparked when officers tried to stop a Vauxhall Astra in Middlesbrough.

The pursuit started in Ladgate Lane around 11.25pm, on Tuesday, November 26. Officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but it made off and was followed to Cargo Fleet Lane, then towards the Trunk Road, South Bank and towards Normanby Road.

Two males were then captured on CCTV running from the vehicle. The dog section was called to the scene and police dog (PD) Raegar tracked down two males in a field. A 17-year-old and a 23-year-old were arrested.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Officers attempted to stop a Vauxhall Astra in the Ladgate Lane area of Middlesbrough. The Astra was followed by officers to Cargo Fleet Lane, then towards the Trunk Road, South Bank and towards Normanby Road where two males were seen on CCTV running from the car.

"PD Raegar and PC India Landers attended and carried out a search for the males, where PD Raegar tracked over a field before two males matching the descriptions of those running away from the vehicle were located. Two males aged 17 and 23 have been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police and dangerous driving. Both remain in police custody at this time."
