A man was taken to hospital after being assaulted in the city centre. Police were called to Bolton Street, near Lime Street Station, at 5.38am on Saturday, August 21.

One man was assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment, a force incident manager at Merseyside Police told the ECHO. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown and police are awaiting an update.

When the ECHO arrived at the scene this morning at around 10.30am, a cordon remained in place at the junction of Bolton Street and Copperas Hill, near the Adelphi Hotel. A police officer could also be seen standing outside Rileys Sports Bar.

Cars travelling down Bolton Street, which is a one-way road, had to turn around back onto Skelhorne Street due to it being cordoned off. For the latest news and breaking news visit liverpoolecho.co.uk/news.
