POLICE say they will work with the council on removing a group of travellers from a Poole car park.

Travellers have set up an unauthorised encampment in the car park at Poole Stadium.

Both police and BCP Council are aware of the situation, with the former saying they will take “appropriate action if required”.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 10.26am on Thursday 16 March 2023 relating to an unauthorised encampment in Stadium Way in Poole.

“Officers have attended the site and are liaising with those present as well as the local authority.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and work with our local partners and will take appropriate further action if required.”

BCP Council says it is aware of an unauthorised encampment within the stadium’s private car park consisting of three living units and associated vehicles.

The authority added: “The required assessments have now been carried out.”

Travellers were previously reported at the site in mid-February.
