Police crackdown on anti-social behaviour in Durham city as arrests are made
Police are cracking down on anti-social behaviour in Durham city as arrests have been made. Durham Constabulary posted an update on social media, reaffirming its commitment to the city's residents and businesses.
The full statement, posted on the Durham City Police Facebook page, is as follows: "More arrests this weekend for breaches of Criminal Behaviour Orders, imposed by the courts to help tackle antisocial behaviour in Durham City.
"The message could not be clearer - if you are a persistent trouble maker, we will apply to have you banned from the city, so that our businesses, residents and visitors can enjoy the run up to Christmas, without it being spoilt by your recidivist criminal and nuisance behaviour.

"No doubt people will argue that this should be dealt with with by other means, or it just displaces a problem, but it was becoming very unfair that so many people were affected on a daily basis by a handful of people.
"We are getting great feedback on the difference people are seeing, and, how much safer the city has felt over the last few months - which is great to hear as we enter anti-social behaviour awareness week."
