Police Deploy Tear Gas Against Phoenix Protesters

Police deployed tear gas to disperse protesters outside the Phoenix Convention Centre, where President Donald Trump was holding a political rally, on August 22.

According to AZ Central, police said they used pepper balls and pepper spray in response to protesters throwing rocks and bottles.

During Trump’s speech, he derided the media, Obama and GOP senators. He also asked the crowd how it felt about Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona sheriff. Arpaio faces jail after being convicted of contempt of court for ordering Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies to ignore a judge’s ban on traffic patrols targeting migrants, according to Politico.
