Police Deploy Tear Gas and Water Cannon During Colombo Protest

Police deployed tear gas and a water cannon during a clash with demonstrators in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on May 19.

Chathuranga Hapuarachchi filmed a video showing the protesters running away from the tear gas and water cannon in Colombo’s central business district, Fort.

Sri Lanka’s local news network, newsfirst.lk, reported that the protest was organized by the Inter University Students Federation, to “march against the President, Prime Minister, and the Government,” on Thursday.
