Police Deploy Water Cannon During Pension-Reform Protest in France

Police in Rennes, France, deployed a water cannon to douse demonstrators at a pension-reform protest on Tuesday, January 31, footage shows.

The demonstration in the northwest French city was held as nationwide protests and strikes took place over proposed reforms to the country’s pension system, including raising the retirement age by two years.

Footage by Ouest-France journalist Samuel Nohra shows police deploying a water cannon on Pont de la Mission.

According to France 24, labor unions were aiming to get more than a million demonstrators on the streets.
