Police will be on 'air traffic control' duties again when they escort an aircraft fuselage through the county on Sunday (December 1). It comes a week after they performed the same role on the Sunday just gone.

The latest load will be on the roads from 9am on Sunday. The aircraft fuselage requires the escort by officers as it is 35 metres long and 4.5 metres wide.

The escort will travel along the A419 from Cirencester before joining the A429 where it will move to the final destination of Cotswold Airport in Kemble. Whilst traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, motorists are advised to avoid this route during the relevant times or plan their journey times accordingly.

Writing on X at the weekend, Gloucestershire Police's Specialist Ops team said: "Would you brave storm Bert on two wheels like our officers did today? Despite the bad weather, this plane landed safely at Cotswold Airport escorted by special operations."

The weather is looking better for this Sunday morning, unlike last Sunday when the impact of Storm Bert was being felt. The Met Office says there should only light rain at the time the abnormal load is being escorted.
