Kidnap victim 'bundled into car boot' is found by police investigating 'smashed-up' house and car

A kidnap victim who was bundled into the boot of a car was found by police investigating reports that a house and car had been 'smashed up'.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers uncovered the kidnapping after being called to reports of criminal damage on Thursday night (21 April).

When officers arrived at the address in Clifton, Nottingham, at around 10.15pm they found a living room window smashed as well as damage to a car parked outside.

Whilst there, a kidnapping involving a man reportedly being hit over the back of the head and bundled into the boot of a car was also reported to police.

After making enquiries, the officers found the victim who had suffered a black eye, cuts to the head and swelling around his mouth.

The force said officers then attended another address in the same area where a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and kidnapping.

Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "These are very serious offences and officers did well to locate and detain a suspect within an hour of being called to the report of criminal damage.

"Thanks to their swift work, a man who had been kidnapped was safely located and he is now being supported by specialist officers.

"Robust enquiries to uncover all the circumstances are ongoing. However we are satisfied the persons involved are known to each other and there is no wider threat to the local community.

"We are determined to get justice for the victims and I would therefore ask anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact us as soon as possible."
