Police flood Bearwood High Street following reports of youths carrying 'knives'

Police flooded Bearwood High Street after youths were seen carrying knives. Officers attended around 3.30pm after receiving the worrying reports but were unable to find any suspects.

They maintained a visible presence and are carrying out further investigations. They are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Locals posted about the incident on social media. West Midlands Police issued a statement and told local residents they know the incident 'will have been intimidating, and worrying' and they're carrying out further enquiries.

West Midlands Police said: "We received reports of knives being carried in Bearwood Road, Smethwick, at just before 3.30pm today (28 January). We attended the area but no-one was seen with any weapons.

"Officers remained in the area to provide a visible presence. We know this will have been intimidating, and worrying, for others and we're carrying out further enquiries.
