Police found drugs worth £30,000 when they stopped a pick-up truck in Hamilton.
Samuel O'Neill, 31, was caught with bags containing cannabis resin and amphetamine.
O'Neill, of Partington, Greater Manchester, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
He admitted being concerned in the supply of the drugs in Low Waters Road and elsewhere on January 21.
Neil Thomson, prosecuting, told the court: "Police were given information that caused them to look out for a Ford Ranger vehicle.
"They saw it leave the M74 at Hamilton and followed to Low Waters Road where the vehicle was stopped.
"O'Neill was the driver and the only occupant.
"A search revealed 1.8kg of amphetamine with a potential value of £25,000. There was also 2.5kg of cannabis resin worth up to £5,000."
Sheriff Louise Gallacher deferred sentence on O'Neill until next month for background reports and continued his bail.
