Police have been given extra stop and search powers within Greenwich and Bexley.

The section 60 order is authorised from 4am until 4pm today (November 29).

The authorisation follows the murders of two 16-year-old boys in Thamesmead and Abbey Wood at the weekend.

Kearne Solanke was found with stab wounds in Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead, and Charlie Bartolo was discovered in Sewell Road, Abbey Wood on Saturday evening.

Metropolitan Police said late on Sunday evening that another 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of their murders, with the two incidents being treated by police as linked.
