Police got 'more than they bargained for' at amnesty
Police got 'more than they bargained for' at a weapons amnesty. A crossbow and two air rifles were among items handed in at an event in Flintshire.
North Wales Police have an ongoing series of amnesties in a campaign called Operation Sceptre to make communities safer. The latest image of alarming firearms and guns from the event at Asda's car park in Queensferry on Saturday was posted on the NWP North Flintshire Facebook page.
A spokesman said: "We've had another productive day with the Engagement Van, discussing weapon legislation and local issues with you, the public. We got more than we bargained for today!

"Two air weapons were handed in, as well as a crossbow and a blank firing handgun. These will be safely disposed of, along with the knives."
The officer added: "I’d like to thank you for all the support we’ve had! It’s great to see that you are taking the opportunity to hand items over to us for safe disposal, eliminating any chance of the weapons falling into the wrong hands for use in criminality.
"Ultimately, It’s YOU who are making the communities safer here so thank you! I'll be back out (today, Sunday, November 17) with PCSO James King in Morrisons Connah's Quay between 11am and 1pm, so do pop down for a chat!"
