Police are hunting a cyclist after a man was left with a broken leg in a row over picking up dog poo.

The 60-year-old victim was left lying on the ground after the alleged assault on Saturday, December 28 in Bushy Park, Richmond.

Police described the incident as "a minor disagreement that very quickly escalated to totally unnecessary violence".

Following the assault, the suspect cycled off on a mountain bike, Scotland Yard said.

The London Ambulance Service arrived and treated the victim, who later required surgery on his leg.

Sergeant Pete Sturgess said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who can identify the man in the picture. While the quality of the image is not great, if you know him, it’s likely that you will recognise him.

“At the centre of this case is a minor disagreement that very quickly escalated to totally unnecessary violence. If you can assist in identifying the man in the image please do get in touch.”

It is understood that the "minor disagreement" was over picking up dog poo.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 years, tall and of large build, clean shaven and speaking with a London accent.
