This is the horrific moment a car mounted the pavement and ploughed into a teenager in an apparently deliberate attack.

The 17-year-old victim was with a group of students when the white Vauxhall Insignia accelerated towards them, hitting him as his friends scattered.

The car, carrying two passengers, was driven between a parked car and a wall at more than 30mph to reach the group, according to a witness.

The teenage victim, who was hurled into the air after bouncing off the bonnet, was left in agony after the attack outside Havering College of Further Education in Hornchurch, Essex.

Police are investigating the incident, which is not being treated as terrorist related.

One witness, who asked not to be named, said the car started from a parked position, accelerating and mounting the pavement.

“He drove between a parked car and a wall at more than 30mph I reckon, but probably more, he missed the parked car by inches, I would have a hard time driving my van through that gap and he did it at speed.”

“The kids were lucky, there were about six or seven of them running but they had no chance of getting away, an older person would never have got out the way, he could have easily killed them.”

“It was potentially deadly, it’s very dangerous and that path is usually busy with pedestrians. He used his car as a weapon, this guy needs to be taken off the streets.”
