Police hunt man who bit off part of mini-cab driver's nose in unprovoked attack in east London

Police are hunting a man who bit off part of a minicab driver’s nose in an unprovoked attack in east London.

The driver, aged in his 50s, was attacked on Saturday night by a passenger who stole money from the cab before running off, police said.

Officers were called shortly before midnight to reports of a man assaulted in Church Road, near the junction with Benskins Lane, in Romford.

Scotland Yard said the victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, where he remains.

Redbridge MPS posted an image on Twitter of man they want to speak to following the incident.

They wrote in a tweet: “Detectives are keen to speak with the male pictured regarding a serious assault in Romford on Saturday May 26.

“A taxi driver was attacked & had part of his nose bitten off in an unprovoked attack.”

No arrests have been made.
