Police are hunting for a man who was spotted cruelly hitting his guide dog near a Nottingham pub. A driver travelling down Hucknall Road on Sunday, November 17, reported seeing a man repeatedly hit his specially-trained dog on the head at around 8.10pm.

Nottinghamshire Police explained it had been working with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association to try to find the man, who subjected his dog to the attack near the Grosvenor pub in Carrington. Investigators have now released a photo of a man they want to speak to about the incident and have asked anyone who knows him to get in touch.

Police Constable Lisa Hopkin, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A motorist who was driving past reported seeing a man hitting the dog to its head by the side of the road. We are studying dashcam footage of the incident and liaising with the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association as part of our efforts to trace the man.

“We are now in a position to release this image of someone we would like to speak with. We understand the image is not very clear but believe people who know this man will recognise him. If you do know him, or have any other information which could help, please get in touch with police.

“I would also directly urge the man to come forward so we can take his account of what happened.” Police have urged anyone with helpful information to call 101 quoting incident number 24000689255.
