Police hunt thief who stole £2,000 Rolex, jewellery and Faberge-style egg from Westminster home

Police are hunting a thief who stole a £2,000 Rolex watch and other “hugely sentimental” items from a home in Westminster.

Detectives have released clear CCTV footage of the suspect as he roams around inside the house, following the burglary on July 31 at around 9.30pm.

Officers descended on the property in Montagu Square – where three-bedroom flats cost at least £2 million – after the CCTV system automatically notified the absent owner of a potential break-in.

The suspect had already fled by the time police arrived. It is believed he had gained entry by forcing open a ground floor window.

Detective Constable Andrea Hewes, of Westminster police, said: "The items stolen in this burglary are of huge sentimental value to their owner, who is deeply upset about the intrusion into his home and the thefts.

"We have clear CCTV of the suspect committing the burglary, and we would urge anyone who recognises the man, or who has come across the items that were stolen, to get in touch with us."

No arrests have been made in connection with the burglary.
