Police appeal: Police want to speak to this man after the incident on a Victoria line train: British Transport Police

Police are hunting a thug who allegedly pushed an elderly man off a Tube train before hurling racist and homophobic abuse at passers-by who tried to intervene.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after the incident, which happened on Friday at about 1.30pm.

A Victoria line train was travelling southbound between Green Park and Pimlico when a man became loud and abusive and pushed an elderly man from the train at Victoria.

Two members of the public, a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, challenged his behaviour and the man verbally abused them with racist and homophobic language.

This abuse continued at Pimlico where the victims got off the train.

The man shouted at them until he got on a northbound train and left the station.

Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV image as he may have information which could help with the investigation.
