Police identify and arrest England fans who jumped on vehicles after quarter-final win
Police are closing in on England fans who committed mindless acts of vandalism after the team win on Saturday.
Celebrations turned to criminality as supporters clambered on an ambulance and vandalised a taxi.
In Nottingham, a group of supporters were spotted dancing on top of a bus shelter, while other clips a car can be seen with a smashed roof and windscreen.
Nottingham Police told Yahoo that a man has been arrested after a taxi driver’s car was smashed up after the game against Sweden.
London Ambulance Service shared images of the mindless damage caused to the vehicle, which has since had to be taken out of service in order to be repaired.
They wrote: “We’re delighted with the result, but this has put a big dampener on the celebrations for us: while our officer attended a call nearby, this car was damaged in Borough High Street during the celebrations after the game, it’s now off the road to be repaired.”
It’s believed the woman’s name was passed on to Poplar Police after a plea for the public to share photos on social media to help them find people who damaged the car.
Tower Hamlets Police wrote on Twitter: “Fairly sure every single one of them will enjoy explaining to the courts why they thought damaging London Ambulance vehicles was the appropriate response to England winning.”
