Police identify man found burned to death in Tunbridge Wells car park

A 43-year-old man who was found burned to death in a car park in Tunbridge Wells has been named by police.

The body of Giles Metcalfe was discovered in a stairwell on the first floor of the Torrington Road car park in the early hours of March 7.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Provisional post-mortem results indicate he died as a result of the effects of a fire."

He is said to be from the Tunbridge Wells area.

Dean Lewis, 34, of no fixed address, has been charged with the murder of Mr Metcalfe and appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday March 13.
