Hundreds of people continue to party at illegal rave in Cornwall

An illegal rave in Cornwall continued into its third day on Sunday, as police continued to try to manage the situation.

Devon and Cornwall Police said several hundred people were believed to be at the site at Davidstow Moor, Camelford, around 35 miles north-east of Plymouth.

Officers were first called to the site at around 10pm on Friday night and on Sunday the force confirmed that officers were still at the scene.

A significant number of specialist police resources have been deployed to the area and are working to safely manage the ongoing situation, a statement said.

A police spokesperson said: "The event is currently covering quite a large area and we believe there are several hundred people in attendance.

"A number of people have left this morning and others attempting to enter have been turned away.

"In the interest of public safety, we are asking anyone thinking about attending the event not to do so.

"I would like to reassure the local communities and wider public that we are taking this matter seriously and where appropriate, we will seek to action against those attending and running the event."

Police said a cordon had been put in place around the site and a number of local roads in the area and warned motorists of possible travel disruption in the area.

According to some reports, several arrests had been made relating to alleged driving and drink/drugs offences.

Colin Caudery, who lives nearby, told the BBC he had called police on Friday night after having to kick people out of his garden.

He claimed people had travelled from as far away as Scotland to come to the event, which was causing "total chaos".
