A 'police incident' has forced the closure of a Highcross shopping centre car park in Leicester city centre this morning. Officers have erected a tent and privacy screens at the scene, and a cordon is in place.

A significant police presence remains focused on the ground floor pedestrian entrance of the John Lewis multi-story car park in Vaughan Way. Pictures taken this morning show several police vehicles and uniformed officers stationed around the entrance area.

Highcross has advised shoppers to use alternative parking facilities during the closure. The centre's rooftop car park, accessed via Vaughan Way, remains open and is operating as normal.
