Police increase patrols in Lozells after Villa Road shooting
Detectives investigating a shooting in Lozells have promised to increase police patrols following concerns in the community. Officers were called to Villa Road at around 1am on Sunday, November 10.
Paramedics treated a man, in his 30s, for serious leg injuries following the shooting. He was rushed to hospital but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
West Midlands Police this afternoon said it was "aware" of "concerns" raised by residents and business owners in Lozells. The force has responded by increasing police patrols in the area.

It previously said the shooting was believed to have been an isolated incident. No arrests have been made.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Our investigation into a shooting in Birmingham is continuing. A man was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries, though his injuries are thankfully not considered life-threatening.
"Officers are continuing with forensic enquiries to establish the details and identify who was involved. We're aware of the concerns raised by residents and business owners in the area.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area, and we encourage members of the public to speak with officers and share their concerns. We've already worked with partners including Birmingham City Council to implement a public space protection order (PSPO) in Lozells, East Handsworth, and Soho. The PSPO, which came into effect on October 1, prohibits groups causing anti-social behaviour and being drunk in a public place.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to a shooting at the junction of Villa Road and Hamstead Road in Birmingham at 1.06am on November 10. We sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care car from Cosford to the scene. On arrival crews found a man, who they treated for serious injuries before conveying him to hospital.”
