Surfer’s Paradise Police arrested a woman on Friday, April 14, after she allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol and crashed her car into a Gold Coast fish and chips shop.

In footage shared by the Queensland Police Service as a warning to drivers, the alleged offender can be seen eating what appear to be hot chips and speaking in a slurred voice. She is then escorted by an officer to a nearby police car.

In a statement, police said the crash occurred at about 11:40 am when the car smashed through the front glass doors and came to a stop against the sales counter.

The 50-year-old female driver returned a preliminary result on her breath test of 0.277 and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for further tests. Credit: Queensland Police Service Media Unit via Storyful
