Police investigating Chris Whitty harassed in park

Police are investigating video footage of England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitty, which appears to show him being harassed by two men in London over the weekend. In the video posted on Twitter, Professor Whitty seems to struggle to free himself while being grabbed by two men who are shouting and laughing at him. The Metropolitan Police said the incident occurred at St James’s Park on Sunday. The Prime Minister Boris Johnson has condemned the incident. The Labour Party leader Keir Starmer also took to Twitter to denounce the behaviour. This morning education minister Nick Gibb branded the attack as ‘appalling’. While Labour’s Jim McMahon said Whitty’s security arrangements should be reviewed. Whitty first rose to prominence at the start of the Covid pandemic, regularly appearing at the daily Downing Street press conference. But he has yet to comment publicly on the incident.
